ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਟੈਸਟ ਸੀਰੀਜ਼ ‘ਚ 0-3 ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਮਨਾਕ ਹਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਕਟ ‘ਚ ਦੋ ਵੱਡੇ ਬਦਲਾਅ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਕਟ ਬੋਰਡ (ਪੀ.ਸੀ.ਬੀ.) ਦੇ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਰਮੀਜ਼ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਖਾਸਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਦਕਿ ਮੁਹੰਮਦ ਵਸੀਮ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਾਲੀ ਚੋਣ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਟਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਬਾਬਰ ਆਜ਼ਮ ਦੀ ਕਪਤਾਨੀ ‘ਤੇ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਲਟਕਣੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਪਤਾਨੀ ਤੋਂ ਹਟਾਉਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਖਬਰਾਂ ਵੀ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਉਣੀਆਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਕਟ ਬੋਰਡ (ਪੀ.ਸੀ.ਬੀ.) ਦੇ ਅੰਤਰਿਮ ਮੁੱਖ ਚੋਣਕਾਰ ਸ਼ਾਹਿਦ ਅਫਰੀਦੀ ਨੇ ਬਾਬਰ ਆਜ਼ਮ ਨੂੰ ਕਪਤਾਨੀ ਤੋਂ ਹਟਾਏ ਜਾਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਖਬਰਾਂ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਵੱਡਾ ਬਿਆਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਪੀਸੀਬੀ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਚੋਣਕਾਰ ਬਣਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪ੍ਰੈਸ ਕਾਨਫਰੰਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਹਿਦ ਅਫਰੀਦੀ ਨੇ ਬਾਬਰ ਦੀ ਕਪਤਾਨੀ ‘ਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਚੁੱਪੀ ਤੋੜੀ।
ਅਫਰੀਦੀ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਾਲੀ ਚੋਣ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਨੇ ਸਿਰਫ ਨਿਊਜ਼ੀਲੈਂਡ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਘਰੇਲੂ ਸੀਰੀਜ਼ ਲਈ ਹੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਸੰਭਾਲੀ ਸੀ। ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਮਵਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਊਜ਼ੀਲੈਂਡ ਨਾਲ ਦੋ ਟੈਸਟ ਅਤੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਵਨਡੇ ਖੇਡਣੇ ਹਨ। ਪਹਿਲੇ ਟੈਸਟ ਦੀ ਪਲੇਇੰਗ ਇਲੈਵਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਅਫਰੀਦੀ ਬਾਬਰ ਨਾਲ ਚਰਚਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਐਤਵਾਰ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਕਰਾਚੀ ਪਹੁੰਚੋ।
ਬਾਬਰ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਅਫਰੀਦੀ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੈੱਸ ਕਾਨਫਰੰਸ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਬਰ ਦੀ ਕਪਤਾਨੀ ‘ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਟੈਂਡ ਬਾਰੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ‘ਤੇ ਪੀਸੀਬੀ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਚੋਣਕਾਰ ਸ਼ਾਹਿਦ ਅਫਰੀਦੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ”ਇਹ ਚੋਣ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਬਾਬਰ ਆਜ਼ਮ ਦਾ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਇੱਥੇ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਪੱਧਰੀ ਬੱਲੇਬਾਜ਼ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ ਵਧੀਆ ਕਪਤਾਨ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਕਪਤਾਨ ਅਫਰੀਦੀ ਨੇ ਟੈਸਟ ਮੈਚ ਲਈ ਸਰਫਰਾਜ਼ ਅਹਿਮਦ ਅਤੇ ਮੀਰ ਹਮਜ਼ਾ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੀ ਪਲੇਇੰਗ ਇਲੈਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੰਕੇਤ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਫਰੀਦੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ”ਸਾਡਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਆਪਣੀ ਬੈਂਚ ਸਟ੍ਰੈਂਥ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਖਣਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਡੇ ਕਈ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ ਲੰਬੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਹਨ। ਅਸੀਂ ਕੰਮ ਦੇ ਬੋਝ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਭਾਲਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਬਾਬਰ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਮੁੱਦਾ ਉਠਾਇਆ ਸੀ। ਹਮਜ਼ਾ ਨੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੁਝ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੰਗਾ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਟੀਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਹੱਕਦਾਰ ਹੈ। ਸ਼ਾਹੀਨ ਦੀ ਗੈਰ-ਮੌਜੂਦਗੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਖੱਬੇ ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਤੇਜ਼ ਗੇਂਦਬਾਜ਼ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਸੀ।
