ਟੀਚੇ ਦਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕਰਨ ਉਤਰੀ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਚੰਗੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੀ। ਕਪਤਾਨ ਬਾਬਰ ਆਜ਼ਮ 14 ਗੇਂਦਾਂ ‘ਤੇ 15 ਦੌੜਾਂ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਆਫ ਸਪਿੰਨਰ ਮਿਸ਼ੇਲ ਬ੍ਰੇਸਵੈੱਲ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਸ਼ਾਨ ਮਸੂਦ ਨੇ ਵੀ 21 ਗੇਂਦਾਂ ‘ਤੇ 19 ਦੌੜਾਂ ਬਣਾਈਆਂ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਫਾਰਮ ‘ਚ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੇ ਵਿਕਟਕੀਪਰ ਬੱਲੇਬਾਜ਼ ਮੁਹੰਮਦ ਰਿਜ਼ਵਾਨ 29 ਗੇਂਦਾਂ ‘ਤੇ 34 ਦੌੜਾਂ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਲੈੱਗ ਸਪਿਨਰ ਈਸ਼ ਸੋਢੀ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੀ ਟੀਮ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲ ‘ਚ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਮੁਹੰਮਦ ਨਵਾਜ਼ ਅਤੇ ਹੈਦਰ ਅਲੀ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਸਾਂਝੇਦਾਰੀ ਕਰਕੇ ਟੀਮ ਦੀ ਜਿੱਤ ਪੱਕੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ।

74 ਦੌੜਾਂ ‘ਤੇ 3 ਵਿਕਟਾਂ ਡਿੱਗਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਮੁਹੰਮਦ ਨਵਾਜ਼ ਅਤੇ ਹੈਦਰ ਅਲੀ ਨੇ 26 ਗੇਂਦਾਂ ‘ਚ 56 ਦੌੜਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਝੇਦਾਰੀ ਕਰਕੇ ਟੀਮ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤ ਦੀ ਲੀਹ ‘ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਇਆ। ਹੈਦਰ ਅਲੀ ਨੇ 15 ਗੇਂਦਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ 31 ਦੌੜਾਂ ਬਣਾਈਆਂ। ਸਟ੍ਰਾਈਕ ਰੇਟ 207 ਸੀ। 3 ਚੌਕੇ ਅਤੇ 2 ਛੱਕੇ ਲਗਾਏ। ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਆਲਰਾਊਂਡਰ ਨਵਾਜ਼ 22 ਗੇਂਦਾਂ ‘ਚ 38 ਦੌੜਾਂ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਆਊਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਏ। ਸਟ੍ਰਾਈਕ ਰੇਟ 173 ਸੀ। 2 ਚੌਕੇ ਅਤੇ 3 ਛੱਕੇ ਲਗਾਏ। ਆਸਿਫ਼ ਅਲੀ ਇੱਕ ਰਨ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਆਊਟ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਟੀਮ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤ ਲਈ ਆਖਰੀ 3 ਓਵਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ 23 ਦੌੜਾਂ ਬਣਾਉਣੀਆਂ ਸਨ।
