ਯੂਕਰੇਨ ‘ਤੇ ਹਮਲੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ, ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਪੈਰਾਲੰਪਿਕ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਨੇ ਰੂਸ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਲਾਰੂਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡਾ ਝਟਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਰੂਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਲਾਰੂਸ ਦੇ ਖਿਡਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਯੂਕਰੇਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਵਿੰਟਰ ਪੈਰਾਲੰਪਿਕ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਬੰਦੀ ਲਗਾਈ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਆਈਪੀਸੀ ਨੇ 24 ਘੰਟਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਬਦਲਿਆ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਰੂਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਲਾਰੂਸੀ ਖਿਡਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੁੱਕਰਵਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਰਪੱਖ ਖਿਡਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਜੋਂ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈਣ ਦੀ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਝੰਡੇ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਸਨ।
ਇਸ ਫੈਸਲੇ ਲਈ ਆਈਪੀਸੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਲੋਚਨਾ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਬਦਲਣਾ ਪਿਆ। ਆਈਪੀਸੀ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ ਰੂਸ ਜਾਂ ਬੇਲਾਰੂਸ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰਨਗੇ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਪੈਰਾਲੰਪਿਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਦੀ ਸਾਖ ਨੂੰ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
ਆਈਪੀਸੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਐਂਡਰਿਊ ਪਰਸਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਪਿਛਲੇ 12 ਘੰਟਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਈ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਪਰਕ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਫੈਸਲੇ ‘ਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਭੁਗਤਣੇ ਪੈ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
