OTTAWA, OCTOBER 13: The count of total cases of COVID-19 (or coronavirus) in Canada was 182,839 as of Monday evening.
The death toll in the country stands at 9,627. Ontario and Quebec have the highest fatility rate with 3,005 and 5,965 deaths respectively.
There are 18,954 active cases of coronavirus in the country while recovered cases have reached 154,258.
Meanwhile, the count of total cases of COVID-19 in Quebec was 86,976; Ontario 59,139; Alberta 19,995; and British Columbia 10,185 as of October 12.
Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer, issued the following statement on Monday, “Over the past week, labs across Canada have tested an average of over 71,000 people daily, with 2.5% testing positive. As some provinces and territories do not provide updates over the weekend, the next update for the average daily counts of cases, current hospitalizations and deaths will be provided on Wednesday, once these numbers have been compiled.”
