ਡੈਸਕ- ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਣ ਦੇ ਚਾਹਵਾਨ ਪੰਜਾਬੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਮਾੜੀ ਖਬਰ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਈ ਹੈ। ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਇੰਟਰਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਸਟੂਡੈਂਟ ਨੂੰ ਵੰਡਣ ਦੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ। ਦਰਅਸਲ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾਤਰ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਅਜੇ ਤੱਕ ਓਂਟਾਰੀਓ ਜਾਂ ਬ੍ਰਿਟਿਸ਼ ਕੋਲੰਬੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੂਬਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ 50 ਫੀਸਦੀ ਕਟੌਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਪੰਜਾਬੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡਾ ਝਟਕਾ ਲੱਗੇਗਾ। ਦਰਅਸਲ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਤੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਗਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਇਥੋਂ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਅਕਸਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਂ ਨੇੜੇ-ਤੇੜੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਵੱਲ ਰੁਖ਼ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਾਨੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਨਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਏ। ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਤੋਂ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਸਟੱਡੀ ਪਰਮਿਟ ਦੀ ਅਰਜ਼ੀ ਜਮ੍ਹਾ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਸੂਬੇ ਜਾਂ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਤਸਦੀਕ ਪੱਤਰ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਪਏਗੀ, ਜਿਥੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪੜ੍ਹਣਾ ਜਾਂ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋ, ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਅਰਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਮਨਜ਼ੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
ਦੱਸ ਦੇਈਏ ਕਿ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਵਿੱਚ 3,40,000 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਵਿਚਾਲੇ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੰਟਰਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਦਸ ਲੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਕੋਰੋਨਾ ਮਹਾਮਾਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਨੇ 2023 ਵਿੱਚ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ 6,79,075 ਸਟੱਡੀ ਵੀਜ਼ਾ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੇ ਸਨ।
ਨਤੀਜੇ ਵਜੋਂ, ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ 2021 ਵਿੱਚ 6,17,250 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਕੇ ਦਸੰਬਰ 2023 ਤੱਕ 10 ਲੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਇਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਿਹਾਇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਸਮੱਸਿਆ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਲੋਚਨਾ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪੈ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
