CHANDIGARH, OCTOBER 15: The Punjab Government on Thursday informed that cinemas ( movie theatres) will remain closed for the time being in the state.

Media Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister, Raveen Thukral took to social media to inform about the government’s decision on cinemas, multiplexes and parks.

“Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab government decides not to open Multiplexes, Cinema Halls and Entertainment Parks in the state yet. However, Ramlilas to be allowed with strict Covid protocols,” Thukral tweeted.

Meanwhile, after a gap of 7 months, cinema halls and multiplexes are reopening in several parts of the country from today, with 50% of their total seating capacity, as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

The Centre government allowed theatres, multiplexes, and cinema halls to reopen from October 15.

The Home Affairs Ministry, however, left it to the states to take a final decision on the matter.
