Coronavirus: Punjab Records Single Day Spike of 944 Cases With 19 More Deaths

CHANDIGARH, AUGUST 1: Punjab recorded 944 new cases of coronavirus or COVID-19 with 19 more deaths in a single day, according to the state’s media bulletin on Saturday.

The development has taken the state’s cases tally to 17,063 and death toll to 405.

Punjab’s 22 district reported cases of coronavirus.

Of the 944 cases, 166 cases were reported from Ludhiana; 162 from Jalandhar; 89 from Gurdaspur; 76 from Bathinda; 66 from Patiala; 49 from Amritsar; 48 from Ferozepur; 37 each from Fazilka and Sangrur; 35 from Kapurthala; 34 from SAS Nagar; 26 from Barnala; 21 from Fatehgarh Sahib; 19 from Pathankot; 16 from Moga; 14 each from Mansa, Tarn Taran and Hoshiarpur; 12 from Ropar; 4 from Muktsar; 3 from SBS Nagar; and 2 from Faridkot.

The sources of 10 positive cases of coronavirus were out of Punjab.

There are a total of 5,583 active cases of coronavirus in the state, says bulletin.

Meanwhile, 341 more patients cured and were discharged, taking the state’s recovery toll to 11,075.
