ਆਖਰੀ ਵਾਰ ਸਾਲ 1988 ‘ਚ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਟੀਮ ‘ਚ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਦੋ ਸਪਿਨਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਫਿਰ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਦੌਰੇ ‘ਤੇ ਟਿਮ ਮੇਅ ਅਤੇ ਪੀਟਰ ਟੇਲਰ ਦੀ ਜੋੜੀ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਲਈ ਟੈਸਟ ਮੈਚ ‘ਚ ਆਫ ਸਪਿਨਰ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਖੇਡੀ। ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਟੌਡ ਮਰਫੀ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਰੀਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਘਰੇਲੂ ਕ੍ਰਿਕਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਕਟੋਰੀਆ ਲਈ ਖੇਡਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਛਲੇ 12 ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ‘ਚ ਸੀਮਤ ਓਵਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਫਾਰਮੈਟ ‘ਚ ਵਿਕਟੋਰੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਏ ਟੀਮਾਂ ‘ਚ ਐਡਮ ਜ਼ੈਂਪਾ ਤੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਤਰਜੀਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਚੋਣਕਾਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਜਰਬੇਕਾਰ ਨਾਥਨ ਲਿਓਨ ਦੇ ਲੰਬੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੇ ਬਦਲ ਵਜੋਂ ਦੇਖ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੌਰੇ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੀ 18 ਮੈਂਬਰੀ ਟੀਮ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਇੱਥੇ ਵੀ ਐਡਮ ਜ਼ਾਂਪਾ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤ ‘ਚ ਖੇਡਣ ਦਾ ਤਜਰਬਾ ਹੈ, ਟੌਡ ਨੂੰ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਗਾਰੂ ਟੀਮ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਟੈਸਟ ‘ਚ ਮੌਕਾ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ ‘ਤੇ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
