ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਦੇ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਕਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਚੀਨ ਮੰਦਰ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਹਨ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੰਦਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਕੋਨੇ-ਕੋਨੇ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੀ ਇੱਕ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਦਾ ਮੰਦਰ ਗੁਜਰਾਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਪੂਰੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਭਗਤ ਪਹੁੰਚਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਮੰਦਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਸਤੰਬੇਸ਼ਵਰ ਮਹਾਦੇਵ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਮੰਦਰ ਦਿਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋ ਵਾਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਡੁੱਬ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਘੱਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਇਹ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਮੰਦਰ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਮੰਦਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਸਕੰਦ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ। ਆਓ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਇਸ ਮੰਦਰ ਬਾਰੇ।
ਕਥਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਇਸ ਮੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਕਾਰਤੀਕੇਯ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਤਪੋਬਲ ਨਾਲ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਸੀ। ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਮੰਦਿਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਚਮਤਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਅਲੋਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਦਿਨ ‘ਚ ਘੱਟੋ-ਘੱਟ ਦੋ ਵਾਰ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦਾ ਪੱਧਰ ਇੰਨਾ ਵੱਧ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੰਦਰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ‘ਚ ਡੁੱਬ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਪਾਣੀ ਘੱਟਦੇ ਹੀ ਮੰਦਰ ਫਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਦੇਣ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਣ ਲਈ ਦੂਰ-ਦੂਰ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂ ਇੱਥੇ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਜ਼ਾਰਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਭਗਤ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਦੇਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਮੰਦਰ ਲਗਭਗ 150 ਸਾਲ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਵਿਚ 4 ਫੁੱਟ ਉੱਚਾ ਸ਼ਿਵਲਿੰਗ ਹੈ। ਵਡੋਦਰਾ, ਗੁਜਰਾਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਿਤ, ਇਹ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਮੰਦਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਡੁੱਬਣ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਥਿਹਾਸਕ ਮਾਨਤਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਮੰਦਰ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਮਿਥਿਹਾਸਕ ਮਾਨਤਾ ਜੁੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ
ਸਕੰਦ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਤਾਰਕਾਸੁਰ ਰਾਕਸ਼ ਨੇ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਤਪੱਸਿਆ ਕਰਕੇ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਤੋਂ ਇੱਛਤ ਵਰਦਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਵਰਦਾਨ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਿਵਪੁਤਰ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਵਰਦਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਕੇ ਤਾਦਕਾਸੁਰ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਹਾਕਾਰ ਮਚਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਪਰੇਸ਼ਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ, ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਰਿਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, 6 ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਤੀਕੇਯ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਸਫੈਦ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਤੋਂ ਹੋਇਆ। ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕਤਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਾਰਤੀਕੇਯ ਨੂੰ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਕਿ ਤਾਦਾਕਾਸੁਰ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਦਾ ਭਗਤ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਵਿਸ਼ਨੂੰ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਸਚਿਤ ਦਾ ਉਪਾਅ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ। ਜਿਸ ‘ਤੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਵਿਸ਼ਨੂੰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਸਥਾਨ ‘ਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਵਲਿੰਗ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੁਝਾਅ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਟੈਂਬੀਸ਼ਵਰ ਮੰਦਿਰ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਣ ਲੱਗਾ।
