ਕੌਣ ਸੀ ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਗਿੱਲ?
ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਗਿੱਲ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ 22 ਨਵੰਬਰ, 1939 ਨੂੰ ਸਠਿਆਲਾ, ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ ਸਕੂਲ ਤੋਂ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ ਕਾਲਜ ਤੋਂ ਗ੍ਰੈਜੂਏਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤੀ। 16 ਨਵੰਬਰ 1989 ਨੂੰ ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਪੱਛਮੀ ਬੰਗਾਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਣੀਗੰਜ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਾਇਨਾਤ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਰਾਣੀਗੰਜ ‘ਚ ਕੋਲੇ ਦੀ ਖਾਨ ‘ਚ ਪਾਣੀ ਭਰ ਗਿਆ। 65 ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਖ਼ਤਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ। ਅਜਿਹੇ ‘ਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਮਾਗ ਸੁੰਨ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਸਨ ਤਾਂ ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਗਿੱਲ ਨੇ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਦਿਖਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੁਝ ਦੋਸਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਇਆ।
ਗਿੱਲ ਨੇ 6 ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਰੋਣਾ ਰੋਇਆ
7-8 ਰਾਊਡ ਦੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਪੱਕਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਕੈਪਸੂਲ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਕੈਪਸੂਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਗੀ ਮੈਨੂਅਲ ਘਿਰਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਕੈਨੀਕਲ ਘਿਰਨੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਦਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਵਰਕਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਢਣ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਤੇਜ਼ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਸਵੇਰੇ 8:30 ਵਜੇ ਤੱਕ ਗਿੱਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਰਕਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਫਲ ਰਹੇ। ਮਤਲਬ ਕਿ 6 ਘੰਟਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਿੱਲ ਸਾਹਬ ਨੇ 65 ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਬਚਾਈ।ਜਦੋਂ ਗਿੱਲ ਸਾਹਬ ਨੇ ਆਖਰੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਰੋਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਬਾਕੀ 6 ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਚਾ ਸਕੇ। ਇਹ ਹਾਦਸਾ ਕੋਲੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਖਾਣਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਪਰੇ ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਹਾਦਸਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਸੀ। ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਗਿੱਲ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ‘ਲਿਮਕਾ ਬੁੱਕ ਆਫ਼ ਰਿਕਾਰਡਜ਼’ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਦਰਜ ਹੈ। ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਉਹ ਇਕੱਲਾ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਕੋਲੇ ਦੀ ਖਾਨ ‘ਚ ਫਸੇ ਇੰਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਲਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਬਚਾਇਆ ਸੀ।

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਦੇ ਮਜੀਠਾ ਰੋਡ ‘ਤੇ ਇਕ ਚੌਕ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਗਿੱਲ 26 ਨਵੰਬਰ 2019 ਨੂੰ ਅਕਾਲ ਚਲਾਣਾ ਕਰ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਦੱਸ ਦੇਈਏ ਕਿ ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਵੋਤਮ ਜੀਵਨ ਰਕਸ਼ਾ ਪਦਕ ਦਾ ਖਿਤਾਬ ਵੀ ਮਿਲ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਅਕਸ਼ੇ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕੰਮ ‘ਤੇ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਫਿਲਮ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਟੀਨੂੰ ਸੁਰੇਸ਼ ਦੇਸਾਈ ਨੇ ਫਿਲਮ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
