ਬ੍ਰਿਟਿਸ਼ ਕੋਲੰਬੀਆ ਦੇ ਸਰੀ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਲ ਹੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਜਬਰਨ ਵਸੂਲੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀਆਂ ਹਿੰਸਕ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਦੋ ਪੰਜਾਬੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਗਾਏ ਹਨ। ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ 11 ਜੂਨ ਦੀ ਸਵੇਰ ਕਰੀਬ 5:30 ਵਜੇ 96 ਐਵਨਿਊ ਅਤੇ 133ਏ ਸਟ੍ਰੀਟ ਨੇੜੇ ਇੱਕ ਘਰ ‘ਤੇ ਗੋਲੀਆਂ ਚਲਾਈਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਸਨ। ਗੋਲੀਆਂ ਲੱਗਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਬਾਹਰਲੇ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ। ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੋਕ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਨ, ਪਰ ਖੁਸ਼ਕਿਸਮਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ। ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ 12 ਜੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਲਿਸ, ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਬਾਰਡਰ ਸਰਵਿਸੇਜ਼ ਏਜੰਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਟੈਕਟੀਕਲ ਰਿਸਪਾਂਸ ਟੀਮ ਨੇ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਦੋ ਘਰਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਛਾਪੇ ਮਾਰੇ।
