ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਨਾਲ ਵਪਾਰਕ ਤਣਾਅ ‘ਚ ਸੰਭਾਲਣਗੇ ਅਹੁਦਾ
ਕਾਰਨੀ ਇੱਕ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਸਮੇਂ ‘ਤੇ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦਾ ਅਹੁਦਾ ਸੰਭਾਲਣ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਜਦੋਂ ਦੇਸ਼ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਦੀ ਵਪਾਰ ਨੀਤੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਚੁਣੌਤੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿੱਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਦੀ ਵਪਾਰਕ ਨੀਤੀ ‘ਤੇ ਤਿੱਖਾ ਰੁਖ ਅਪਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੀ ਸੰਪ੍ਰਭੂਤਾ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਆਖੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਡੋਨਾਲਡ ਟਰੰਪ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਸਾਡੀ ਅਰਥਵਿਵਸਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਟਰੰਪ ਸਾਡੇ ਉਤਪਾਦਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਨਾਜ਼ਾਇਜ਼ ਟੈਰਿਫ਼ ਲਗਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਪਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਪਹੁੰਚਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣ ਦੇਵਾਂਗੇ।” ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਅਸੀਂ ਲੜਾਈ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ, ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੈ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਹਾਕੀ ‘ਚ ਅੱਗੇ ਹਾਂ, ਓਹੋ ਜਿੱਤ ਅਸੀਂ ਵਪਾਰ ‘ਚ ਵੀ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਵਾਂਗੇ!”
