ਡੈਸਕ- ਭਾਰਤ ਦਾ ਸਟਾਰ ਜੈਵਲਿਨ ਥ੍ਰੋਅਰ ਨੀਰਜ ਚੋਪੜਾ ਪੈਰਿਸ ਓਲੰਪਿਕ 2024 ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਖਿਤਾਬ ਦਾ ਬਚਾਅ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਗਿਆ। ਨੀਰਜ ਚੋਪੜਾ ਪੈਰਿਸ ‘ਚ 8 ਅਗਸਤ ਦੀ ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਏ ਜ਼ਬਰਦਸਤ ਫਾਈਨਲ ‘ਚ ਸੋਨ ਤਮਗਾ ਜਿੱਤਣ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਗਏ। ਨੀਰਜ ਨੇ 89.45 ਮੀਟਰ ਥਰੋਅ ਨਾਲ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦਾ ਤਗਮਾ ਜਿੱਤ ਕੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਰਚਿਆ।
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, ਉਹ ਦੋ ਓਲੰਪਿਕ ਤਗਮੇ ਜਿੱਤਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਸਿਰਫ ਚੌਥਾ ਅਥਲੀਟ ਅਤੇ ਐਥਲੈਟਿਕਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਅਥਲੀਟ ਬਣ ਗਏ। ਨੀਰਜ ਦੇ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਅਰਸ਼ਦ ਨਦੀਮ ਨੇ ਓਲੰਪਿਕ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਥਰੋਅ ਨਾਲ ਓਲੰਪਿਕ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਤੋੜ ਕੇ ਸੋਨ ਤਮਗਾ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ। ਅਰਸ਼ਦ ਨੇ 92.97 ਮੀਟਰ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਬਰਦਸਤ ਥਰੋਅ ਨਾਲ ਸੋਨੇ ‘ਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਂ ਲਿਖਵਾਇਆ। ਗ੍ਰੇਨਾਡਾ ਦੇ ਐਂਡਰਸਨ ਪੀਟਰਸ ਨੇ 88.54 ਮੀਟਰ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਂਸੀ ਦਾ ਤਗਮਾ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ।
ਹਰ ਈਵੈਂਟ ‘ਚ ਚੰਗੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੀਰਜ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਝਟਕਾ ਲੱਗਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਥਰੋਅ ਫਾਊਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਜੈਵਲਿਨ ਸੁੱਟਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਫਾਲੋ-ਥਰੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਿੱਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੱਜਾ ਪੈਰ ਲਾਈਨ ਤੋਂ ਥੋੜ੍ਹਾ ਬਾਹਰ ਆ ਗਿਆ। ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਥਰੋਅ 86 ਮੀਟਰ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸੀ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਿਆ। ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਅਰਸ਼ਦ ਨਦੀਮ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਥਰੋਅ ਵੀ ਫਾਊਲ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਅਗਲੇ ਥਰੋਅ ‘ਚ ਅਰਸ਼ਦ ਨੇ 92.97 ਮੀਟਰ ਥਰੋਅ ਨਾਲ ਸੋਨ ਤਗਮਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਵਾਂ ਓਲੰਪਿਕ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਵੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ। ਨੀਰਜ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਅਗਲੇ ਥਰੋਅ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਪਸੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ 89.45 ਮੀਟਰ ਨਾਲ ਦੂਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਰਸ਼ਦ ਨਦੀਮ ਓਲੰਪਿਕ ‘ਚ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਗਤ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ‘ਚ ਸੋਨ ਤਮਗਾ ਜਿੱਤਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨੀ ਐਥਲੀਟ ਬਣ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਨੇ 32 ਸਾਲ ਬਾਅਦ ਓਲੰਪਿਕ ਤਮਗਾ ਜਿੱਤਣ ‘ਚ ਸਫਲਤਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਨੇ 1992 ਬਾਰਸੀਲੋਨਾ ਓਲੰਪਿਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਹਾਕੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਂਸੀ ਦਾ ਤਗ਼ਮਾ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਓਲੰਪਿਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਲਈ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਗਤ ਤਗਮਾ ਜਿੱਤਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੀਜੇ ਅਥਲੀਟ ਵੀ ਬਣ ਗਏ।
ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਇਸ ਫਾਈਨਲ ‘ਚ ਨੀਰਜ ਸਿਰਫ ਇਕ ਹੀ ਸਹੀ ਥਰੋਅ ਸੁੱਟ ਸਕਿਆ, ਜਦਕਿ ਬਾਕੀ 5 ਥਰੋਅ ਫਾਊਲ ਸਨ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਹ ਕਾਫੀ ਨਿਰਾਸ਼ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਅਰਸ਼ਦ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਚੁਣੌਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇ ਸਕੇ। ਉਥੇ ਹੀ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਅਰਸ਼ਦ ਨਦੀਮ ਨੇ ਫਾਈਨਲ ‘ਚ ਦੋ ਵਾਰ 90 ਦਾ ਅੰਕੜਾ ਪਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ। ਆਪਣੀ ਆਖਰੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ 91.79 ਮੀਟਰ ਦੀ ਦੂਰੀ ਸੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਫਾਈਨਲ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
