Punjab Records Biggest Single-day Spike of 1,049 COVID Cases; 26 Deaths

CHANDIGARH, AUGUST 6:  Punjab on Thursday reported 1,049 COVID cases and 26 deaths — in a biggest single-day spike so far.

The total case count in the state now stands at 20,891 and the death toll has climbed to 517.

22 out of Punjab’s 22 district reported coronavirus cases.

Of the 1,094 cases, 190 were reported from Ludhiana; 150 from Bathinda; 136 from Patiala; 114 from Jalandhar; 104 from SAS Nagar; 60 from Amritsar; 54 from Gurdaspur; 46 from Moga; 33 each from Barnala and Ferozepur; 22 from Faridkot; 17 from Fatehgarh Sahib; 15 from Muktsar; 14 each from Tarn Taran and Sangrur; 11 each from Hoshiarpur and Pathankot; 7 from Fazilka; 6 each from Kapurthala and Mansa; 3 each from SBS Nagar and Ropar.

The sources of 26 positive cases of coronavirus were out of Punjab.

Punjab has currently 6,715 active cases of COVID, says the bulletin.

Meanwhile, 716 more patients were cured and discharged today, taking the recovery rate to 13,659.
