CHANDIGARH, JANUARY 5, 2021: Four more people succumbed to COVID infection in Punjab, pushing the death toll to 5,404. The infection count mounted to 1,67,652 on Tuesday as 211 fresh cases were reported in the last 24 hours, according to a medical bulletin.
Among the fresh cases in the state, a maximum of 36 cases were reported in Mohali, 25 in Patiala and 23 in Ludhiana.
There are 2,983 active cases of the novel coronavirus in the state, as of now, the bulletin said.
A total of 293 patients were discharged after recovering from the infection, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,59,265, according to the bulletin.
There are still three critical COVID-19 patients on ventilator support while 84 are on oxygen support, said the bulletin.
A total of 39,88,705 samples have been collected for COVID-19 testing so far in the state, it said.
