Punjab reports 20 more COVID-19 deaths, 726 new cases

CHANDIGARH, DECEMBER 4: Punjab reported 20 more deaths due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) and 726 new cases in the last 24 hours.

The development has taken the total number of coronavirus cases to 1,54,788 and death toll to 4,882 on Friday.

According to a medical bulletin, the new fatalities were reported from Amritsar, Faridkot, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Muktsar and Pathankot.

As of now, there are 7,785 active COVID-19 cases in the state, the bulletin said.

Of the new cases, Mohali reported 133 new cases, the highest in the state, followed by Jalandhar 126 and Ludhiana 100.

The recovery count has reached 1,42,121 as a total of 643 more patients were discharged after recovering from the infection.

The bulletin said that there are 9 critical COVID-19 patients on ventilator support while 163 on oxygen support.

A total of 32,95,141 samples have been collected for coronavirus testing in the state, it said.
