Punjab Reports 894 New COVID-19 Cases, 29 Fatalities In Last 24 Hours; Death Toll Nears 500

CHANDIGARH, AUGUST 5: Punjab reported 894 new coronavirus (or COVID-19) cases and 29 more fatalities in the past 24 hours, pushing the state’s cases count to 19,856 and death toll to 491, said the state’s media bulletin on Wednesday.

Twenty out of Punjab’s 22 district reported coronavirus cases.

According to state’s COVID bulletin, 303 cases were reported from Ludhiana; 185 from Patiala; 101 from Jalandhar; 53 from Amritsar; 33 from Barnala; 29 from Bathinda; 27 from SAS Nagar; 23 from Tarn Taran; 19 fron Ferozepur; 18 from Pathankot; 17 from Sangrur; 14 each fron Fatehgarh Sahib and Moga; 13 from Faridkot; 11 from Muktsar; 10 from Ropar; 9 from Fazilka; 8 from Kapurthala; 6 from Hoshiarpur; and 1 from Gurdaspur.

The sources of 21 positive cases of coronavirus were out of Punjab.

There are 6,422 active cases of coronavirus in the state, says the bulletin.

Meanwhile, 452 more patients cured and were discharged, taking the state’s recovery toll to 12,943.
