ਰਾਜਕੁਮਾਰ ਰਾਓ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ 31 ਅਗਸਤ 1984 ਨੂੰ ਗੁੜਗਾਓਂ (ਗੁਰੂਗ੍ਰਾਮ) ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਆਪਣੀ ਗ੍ਰੈਜੂਏਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਹੀ ਰਾਜਕੁਮਾਰ ਰਾਓ ਥੀਏਟਰ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਨੋਜ ਵਾਜਪਾਈ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਰਾਜਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਅਭਿਨੇਤਾ ਬਣਨ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦੱਸ ਦੇਈਏ ਕਿ ਰਾਜਕੁਮਾਰ ਰਾਓ ਦਾ ਅਸਲੀ ਨਾਮ ਰਾਜਕੁਮਾਰ ਯਾਦਵ ਹੈ ਪਰ 2014 ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਾਓ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਧੂ ਐੱਮ ਜੋੜ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ।ਨਾਮ ਲਈ ਰਾਜਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਇੰਟਰਵਿਊ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ- ‘ਰਾਓ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਦਵ, ਦੋਵੇਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਕ ਨਾਮ ਹਨ। ਹਹ।’
ਜਦੋਂ ਖਾਤੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿਰਫ਼ 18 ਰੁਪਏ ਸਨ
ਰਾਜਕੁਮਾਰ ਰਾਓ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਗੁਰੂਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਤੱਕ ਸਾਈਕਲ ‘ਤੇ 70 ਕਿਲੋਮੀਟਰ ਦਾ ਸਫਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਐਕਟਰ ਬਣਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਰਾਜਕੁਮਾਰ ਰਾਓ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਮੁੰਬਈ ਆਉਣ ਦੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਦੋ ਸਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲ ਰਹੇ। ਆਰਥਿਕ ਤੰਗੀ ਸੀ। ‘ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਪਾਰਲੇਜੀ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਪੈਕੇਟ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਖਾਣਾ ਸੀ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਪੈਸੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਨ। ਇੱਕ ਸਮਾਂ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਬੈਂਕ ਖਾਤੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿਰਫ਼ 18 ਰੁਪਏ ਸਨ।
ਰਾਜਕੁਮਾਰ ਰਾਓ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਫਿਲਮ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਐੱਲ.ਐੱਸ.ਡੀ
ਦੱਸ ਦੇਈਏ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਰਾਜਕੁਮਾਰ ਮੁੰਬਈ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਸਟਿੰਗ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਥਾਂ-ਥਾਂ ਆਡੀਸ਼ਨ ਦੇਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਅਜਿਹੇ ‘ਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਕ ਦਿਬਾਕਰ ਬੈਨਰਜੀ ਦਾ ਵਿਗਿਆਪਨ ਦੇਖਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ‘ਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਫਿਲਮ ਲਈ ਇਕ ਐਕਟਰ ਦੀ ਤਲਾਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਐਕਟਰ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਫਤਰ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ। ਉੱਥੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਭਾ ਦਿਖਾਈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਅਭਿਨੇਤਾ ਨੂੰ ‘ਲਵ ਸੈਕਸ ਅਤੇ ਧੋਖਾ’ ਦੀ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਫਿਲਮ ਮਿਲੀ। ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ‘ਗੈਂਗਸ ਆਫ ਵਾਸੇਪੁਰ’, ‘ਕਾਈ ਪੋ ਚੇ’, ‘ਰਾਗਿਨੀ ਐੱਮਐੱਮਐੱਸ’, ‘ਸ਼ਾਹਿਦ’ ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਧਮਾਕੇਦਾਰ ਫ਼ਿਲਮਾਂ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਖਿਆ।
