Vancouver: ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਅਤੇ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਵਿਚ ਬਰਫ਼ੀਲਾ ਤੂਫ਼ਾਨ ਕਹਿਰ ਢਾਹ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹਵਾਈ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਕਰੈਸ਼ ਹੋਣ ਸਣੇ ਸੈਂਕੜੇ ਸੜਕੀ ਹਾਦਸਿਆਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਘੱਟੋ ਘੱਟ 23 ਜਣਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਜਾਨ ਗਵਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਹੈ। ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਫ਼ਲਾਈਟਸ ਰੱਦ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਸਿਲਸਿਲਾ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਐਤਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਮੁਲਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ 13 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਫਲਾਈਟਸ ਰੱਦ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਜਦਕਿ ਸ਼ੁੱਕਰਵਾਰ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਕੁਲ ਅੰਕੜਾ 20 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਟੱਪ ਗਿਆ। ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਵਿਚ 10 ਲੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਘਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਗੁੱਲ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਬਰਫ਼ਬਾਰੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਾਧਾ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਡੈਲਸ, ਹਿਊਸਟਨ, ਔਸਟਿਨ, ਨਿਊ ਓਰਲੀਨਜ਼ ਅਤੇ ਲਿਟਲ ਰੌਕ ਵਰਗੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਠੰਢ ਕਈ ਦਹਾਕਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਤੋੜ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤਾਪਮਾਨ ਆਮ ਨਾਲੋਂ 10 ਤੋਂ 40 ਡਿਗਰੀ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਪੈਨਸਿਲਵੇਨੀਆ ਸਣੇ ਕਈ ਰਾਜਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਦੋ ਫੁੱਟ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਬਰਫ਼ ਡਿੱਗ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਨੋਅ ਪਲੋਅਰਜ਼ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਬਰਫ਼ ਹਟਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਟੋਰਾਂਟੋ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਲ ਲਗਦੇ ਇਲਾਕਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੀ ਸਕੂਲ ਬੰਦ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੇ ਆਸਾਰ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨਟਾਰੀਓ ਪ੍ਰੋਵਿਨਸ਼ੀਅਲ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ 150 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਵਾਪਰਨ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਓ.ਪੀ.ਪੀ. ਦੇ ਸਾਰਜੈਂਟ ਕੈਰੀ ਸ਼ਮਿਡ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ 150 ਹਾਦਸਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਾਵਾ 125 ਗੱਡੀਆਂ ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਥਾਵਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਬਰਫ਼ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਗਈਆਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢਣ ਲਈ ਮਦਦ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਪਈ।
ਉਧਰ, ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਦੇ ਮੇਨ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੇ ਬੈਂਗਰ ਇੰਟਰਨੈਸ਼ਨ ਏਅਰਪੋਰਟ ਤੋਂ ਉਡਾਣ ਭਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਕਰੈਸ਼ ਹੋਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਸਵੀਰਾਂ ਵਾਇਰਲ ਹੋ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਨਿਊ ਯਾਰਕ ਵਿਖੇ ਇਕ ਸੇਵਾ ਮੁਕਤ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਬਰਫ਼ ਹਟਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਜਦਕਿ ਟੈਕਸਸ ਵਿਚ ਸਲੈਡਿੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਇਕ ਕੁੜੀ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ। ਦੱਸਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ 16 ਸਾਲ ਦਾ ਅੱਲ੍ਹੜ ਜੀਪ ਰੈਂਗਲਰ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਬੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਸਲੈਡ ’ਤੇ 2 ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਿੱਚ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਗੱਡੀ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਬੇਕਾਬੂ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਸਲੈਡ ਇਕ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਵੱਜਾ। ਦੋਹਾਂ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਦਾਖ਼ਲ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਇਕ ਦਮ ਤੋੜ ਗਈ। ਇਸੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਮੈਸਾਚਿਊਸੈਟਸ ਸੂਬੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਦਲ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਪਤੀ-ਪਤਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਨੋਅ ਪਲੋਅਰ ਨੇ ਟੱਕਰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਪਤਨੀ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਪਲੋਅ ਅਪ੍ਰੇਟਰ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਫ਼ਿਲਹਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਦੋਸ਼ ਆਇਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਕੈਨਸਸ ਸੂਬੇ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ੁੱਕਰਵਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਲਾਪਤਾ ਇਕ ਐਲੀਮੈਂਟਰੀ ਸਕੂਲ ਟੀਚਰ ਬਰਫ਼ ਵਿਚ ਮਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਮਿਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਜ਼ਿਸ਼ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਸਬੂਤ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ। ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਬਰਫ਼ ਹੀ ਜਾਨੀ ਜਾਨਲੇਵਾ ਸਾਬਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਸਗੋਂ ਐਲਾਬਾਮਾ, ਜਾਰਜੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਫਲੋਰੀਡਾ ਰਾਜਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਾਵਰੋਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਵੱਡਾ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਹੈ।
