Winnipeg- ਮੈਨੀਟੋਬਾ ’ਚ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਤੀਜੀ ਵਾਰ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰੈਸਿਵ ਕੰਜ਼ਰਵੇਟਿਵ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਤਾ ’ਚ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਦੇ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਮੀਅਰ ਹੀਥਰ ਸਟੀਫਨਸਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਅੱਜ ਆਪਣੀ ਚੋਣ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਦਾ ਆਗਾਜ਼ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਉਮੀਦ ਹਨ। ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਜਨਮਤ ਸਰਵੇਖਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸਾਫ਼ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਲੜਾਈ ਚੁਣੌਤੀਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਲੜਾਈ ’ਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਧਿਰ ਐਨ. ਡੀ. ਪੀ. ਵਲੋਂ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਟੱਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
ਕੋਵਿਡ-19 ਮਹਾਂਮਾਰੀ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਗਵਰਨਿੰਗ ਟੋਰੀਜ਼ ਦੇ ਪੋਲ ਨੰਬਰਾਂ ’ਚ ਤੇਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਗਿਰਾਵਟ ਦੇਖੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਕੁਝ ਮਰੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਸਤਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਟ ਕਾਰਨ ਦੂਜੇ ਸੂਬਿਆਂ ’ਚ ਭੇਜਣਾ ਪਿਆ ਸੀ।
ਸਾਲ 2021 ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ’ਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਦੀ ਦੌੜ ਜਿੱਤਣ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਸਟੀਫਨਸਨ ਨੇ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਮੀਅਰ ਦਾ ਅਹਦਾ ਸੰਭਾਲਿਆ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਟੀਚਾ ਆਮ ਚੋਣਾਂ ’ਚ ਪ੍ਰੀਮੀਅਰ ਦਾ ਅਹੁਦਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਮੀਅਰ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਰਚਣਾ ਹੈ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਨਿਊ ਡੈਮੋਕਰੇਟ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਆਗੂ ਵਾਬ ਕਿਨਿਊ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜੇਕਰ ਐਨਡੀਪੀ ਜਿੱਤ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਕੀਨਿਊ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਫਸਟ ਨੇਸ਼ਨਜ਼ ਪ੍ਰੋਵਿੰਸ਼ੀਅਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਮੀਅਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਰਚ ਦੇਣਗੇ। ਸਟੀਫਨਸਨ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਮੀਅਰ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ’ਤੇ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾਤਰ ਸਮੇਂ ਲਈ ਚੋਣਾਂ ’ਚ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਇਹ ਪਾੜਾ ਘੱਟ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਵੋਟ ਅਗਲੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ 3 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਣੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਇਹ ਚੋਣ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਤਾਂ ਬਸੰਤ ਦੇ ਅਖ਼ੀਰ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਪਾਰਟੀਆਂ ਵਿਚਾਲੇ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਲੜਾਈ ਦੀ ਉਮੀਦ ਕਰ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਹਾਲੀਆ ਓਪੀਨੀਅਨ ਪੋਲ ਸੁਝਾਅ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਐਨਡੀਪੀ ਦੀ ਲੀਡ ਘੱਟ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ, ਪ੍ਰੋਬ ਰਿਸਰਚ ਵਲੋਂ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਤਾਜ਼ਾ ਤਿਮਾਹੀ ਸਰਵੇਖਣ ਨੇ ਸੁਝਾਅ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਐਨਡੀਪੀ ਨੇ ਵਿਨੀਪੈਗ ਵਿੱਚ 12-ਪੁਆਇੰਟ ਦੀ ਬੜ੍ਹਤ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੈ। ਸੂਬੇ ਦੀ ਕੁੱਲ 57 ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਸੀਟਾਂ ’ਚੋਂ 32 ਵਿਨੀਪੈਗ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਥੇ ਅਕਸਰ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਪਾਰਟੀਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਜਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਹਾਰੀਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਚੋਣ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਬ ਰਿਸਰਚ ਦੀ ਮੈਰੀ ਐਗਨੇਸ ਵੇਲਚ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ‘‘ਇਹ ਲਗਭਗ ਬਲਾਕ ਦਰ ਬਲਾਕ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਲਗਭਗ ਆਂਢ-ਗੁਆਂਢ ਦੇ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਣ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, 10 ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਸੀਟਾਂ ’ਤੇ 300, 500 ਵੋਟਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤਰ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।’’
ਦੱਸਣਯੋਗ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਐੱਨ. ਡੀ. ਪੀ. ਨੇਤਾ ਵਜੋਂ ਕੀਨਿਊ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਦੂਜੀ ਚੋਣ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਟੋਰੀਜ਼ ਨੇ 2019 ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਮਤ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੋਣਾਂ ’ਚ ਕਿਨਿਊ ਨੂੰ ਐੱਨ. ਡੀ. ਪੀ. ਦੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨੂੰ ਬਦਲਣ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਠ ਸੀਟਾਂ ਲੈਣ ਦਾ ਸਿਹਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਆਗਾਮੀ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਐੱਨ. ਡੀ. ਪੀ. ਨੇ ਹੁਣ ਆਪਣਾ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਸਿਹਤ ਦੇਖ-ਰੇਖ ’ਤੇ ਕੇਂਦਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੇ ਉਪਯੋਗਤਾ ਬਿੱਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਲੈਕਟ੍ਰਿਕ ਵਾਹਨ ਸਬਸਿਡੀਆਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਪਾਕੇਟਬੁੱਕ ਮੁੱਦਿਆਂ ’ਤੇ ਵੀ ਸਮਾਂ ਬਿਤਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
