‘ਬਲਵਾਨ’ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਰੀਅਰ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਸੁਨੀਲ ਸ਼ੈੱਟੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਰੀਅਰ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ 1992 ‘ਚ ਆਈ ਫਿਲਮ ‘ਬਲਵਾਨ’ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਪਰ 1994 ‘ਚ ਆਈ ‘ਮੋਹਰਾ’ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਸ ਪਛਾਣ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਇਸ ‘ਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਅਕਸ਼ੇ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਰਵੀਨਾ ਟੰਡਨ ਅਹਿਮ ਭੂਮਿਕਾਵਾਂ ‘ਚ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸੁਨੀਲ ਸ਼ੈੱਟੀ ‘ਗੋਪੀ ਕਿਸ਼ਨ’ ‘ਚ ਡਬਲ ਰੋਲ ‘ਚ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆਏ। ਜੋ ਕਿ ਕਾਫੀ ਹਿੱਟ ਸਾਬਤ ਹੋਇਆ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ‘ਯੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਘਰ ਯੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਘਰ’, ‘ਹੇਰਾ ਫੇਰੀ’ ‘ਦੇ ਦਨਾ ਦਾਨ’ ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਫਿਲਮਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਦਰਸ਼ਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਿਲ ਜਿੱਤ ਲਿਆ। ਇੰਨਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਨੀਲ ਸ਼ੈੱਟੀ ਨੇ 2001 ‘ਚ ‘ਧੜਕਨ’ ਲਈ ਬੈਸਟ ਵਿਲੇਨ ਦਾ ਐਵਾਰਡ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ ਸੀ।

ਸੁਨੀਲ ਸ਼ੈੱਟੀ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਮਾਨਾ ਸ਼ੈਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੰਬਈ ਦੇ ਨੇਪੀਅਨ ਸੀ ਰੋਡ ‘ਤੇ ਸਥਿਤ ਪੇਸਟਰੀ ਦੀ ਦੁਕਾਨ ‘ਤੇ ਦੇਖਿਆ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਹ ਅਕਸਰ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੋਸਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ। ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਭਿਨੇਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਨ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸੁਨੀਲ ਸ਼ੈੱਟੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਕ ਦੋਸਤ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਉੱਥੇ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ। ਇਸ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸੁਨੀਲ ਮਾਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਈਕ ‘ਤੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਬਾਈਕ ਰਾਈਡ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਹਿਸਾਸ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਇਕ-ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿਆਹ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ
ਸੁਨੀਲ ਸ਼ੈੱਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਨਾ ਸ਼ੈਟੀ ਦਾ ਰਿਸ਼ਤਾ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਗਿਆ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਵਿਆਹ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਦਰਅਸਲ ਮਾਨਾ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਗੁਜਰਾਤੀ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਹੈ। ਸੁਨੀਲ ਸ਼ੈੱਟੀ ਕਰਨਾਟਕ ਦੇ ਤੁਲੂ ਭਾਸ਼ੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਹੈ। ਅਜਿਹੀ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰ, ਧਰਮ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਤ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਸਨ। ਦੋਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਕ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਫ਼ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸੁਨੀਲ ਸ਼ੈੱਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਨਾ ਨੇ ਹਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਨਾਉਂਦੇ ਰਹੇ।
