Washington- ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਡੋਨਾਲਡ ਟਰੰਪ ਨੇ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਕਸੀਕੋ ‘ਤੇ 25% ਟੈਰਿਫ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਫ਼ੈਸਲੇ ਨੂੰ 30 ਦਿਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਮੁਲਤਵੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। 4 ਮਾਰਚ ਨੂੰ ਟਰੰਪ ਨੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਟੈਰਿਫ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਉਸਨੇ ਇਹ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਵਾਪਸ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵੀ ਟਰੰਪ ਨੇ 4 ਫ਼ਰਵਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਕਸੀਕੋ ਦੇ ਕਈ ਉਤਪਾਦਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਟੈਰਿਫ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਘੋਸ਼ਣਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਆਖ਼ਰੀ ਪਲ ‘ਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ 30 ਦਿਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਟਾਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ।

ਟਰੰਪ ਦੀ ਟੈਰੀਫ਼ ਦੀ ਧਮਕੀ ਅਤੇ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਨੂੰ 51ਵਾਂ ਰਾਜ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਾਰਨ, ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ‘ਚ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਉਤਪਾਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਾਇਕਾਟ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੇ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਲੋਕ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਸੇਬਾਂ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੇਬ ਖਾਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਹਨ। ਪਿਜ਼ਾ ਦੁਕਾਨਾਂ ‘ਚ ਕੈਲਿਫ਼ੋਰਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਟਮਾਟਰ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਇਟਲੀ ਦੇ ਟਮਾਟਰ ਵਰਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਦੁਕਾਨਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਸਮਾਨ ਵੇਚਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਬੰਦ
ਕਈ ਦੁਕਾਨਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਉਤਪਾਦ ਵਿਕਰੀ ਲਈ ਰੱਖਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ‘ਚ ਟਰੰਪ ਦੀ ਧਮਕੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀਵਾਦੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਵਧ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਗਰਿਕ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ‘ਚ ਛੁੱਟੀਆਂ ਮਨਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਗੇ
ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਈ ਕੈਨੇਡਾਈ ਨਾਗਰਿਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਯਾਤਰਾਵਾਂ ਰੱਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ‘ਚ ਪੈਸਾ ਖਰਚ ਕਰਕੇ ਟਰੰਪ ਦੀ ਅਰਥਵਿਵਸਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਾਇਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ।
ਟਰੂਡੋ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ- “ਕੈਨੇਡੀਆਈ ਲੜਾਈ ਤੋਂ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਟਦੇ”
ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਜਸਟਿਨ ਟਰੂਡੋ ਨੇ ਮੰਗਲਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਟਰੰਪ ਦੇ ਫ਼ੈਸਲੇ ‘ਤੇ ਤਿੱਖੀ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਕੈਨੇਡੀਆਈ ਲੋਕ ਸਮਝਦਾਰ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਨਿਮਰ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਲੜਾਈ ਤੋਂ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਟਦੇ, ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਦਾਅ ‘ਤੇ ਹੋਵੇ।”
ਲਿਬਰਲ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ‘ਚ ਵਾਪਸੀ
2 ਮਹੀਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ, ਟਰੂਡੋ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਬਰਲ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਹਾਰਨ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਤਰਾ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਸਤੀਫ਼ੇ ਦੀ ਘੋਸ਼ਣਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਹੁਣ, ਟਰੰਪ ਦੀ ਨੀਤੀ ਕਾਰਨ, ਲਿਬਰਲ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੇ ਚੋਣ ਜਿੱਤਣ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਦਾਵੇਦਾਰ ਬਣ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
