ਰਾਇਲ ਚੈਲੰਜਰਜ਼ ਬੈਂਗਲੁਰੂ (ਆਰਸੀਬੀ) ਦੀ ਟੀਮ ਗੁਜਰਾਤ ਟਾਈਟਨਜ਼ (ਜੀ.ਟੀ.) ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਜਿੱਤ ਦੇ ਇਰਾਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਦਾਨ ‘ਤੇ ਉਤਰੀ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾ ਕੇ ਪਲੇਆਫ ‘ਚ ਕੁਆਲੀਫਾਈ ਕਰ ਸਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਖਿਤਾਬ ਦਾ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਸਾਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਸਕੇ। ਪਰ ਸ਼ੁਭਮਨ ਗਿੱਲ ਦੀ ਅਜੇਤੂ ਸੈਂਕੜੇ ਵਾਲੀ ਪਾਰੀ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਉਮੀਦਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਫੇਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। 198 ਦੌੜਾਂ ਦੇ ਟੀਚੇ ਦਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਗੁਜਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਗਿੱਲ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਵਿਜੇ ਸ਼ੰਕਰ (53) ਦਾ ਵੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਸਾਥ ਮਿਲਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਦੂਜੀ ਵਿਕਟ ਲਈ 123 ਦੌੜਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਝੇਦਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਬੰਗਲੌਰ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਥੇ ਟਾਸ ਹਾਰ ਕੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਬੱਲੇਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ। ਪਰ ਸਟਾਰ ਬੱਲੇਬਾਜ਼ ਵਿਰਾਟ ਕੋਹਲੀ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਬੱਲੇਬਾਜ਼ ਪਿੱਚ ‘ਤੇ ਪੈਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਮਾ ਸਕਿਆ। ਕਪਤਾਨ ਫਾਫ ਡੁਪਲੇਸਿਸ (28) ਅਤੇ ਮਾਈਕਲ ਬ੍ਰੇਸਵੈੱਲ (26) ਨੇ ਚੰਗੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੀ ਪਾਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਦਲ ਸਕੇ। ਆਖਰੀ ਓਵਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਕਟਕੀਪਰ ਬੱਲੇਬਾਜ਼ ਅਨੁਜ ਰਾਵਤ (23*) ਨੇ 64 ਦੌੜਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਝੇਦਾਰੀ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਰਸੀਬੀ ਦੇ ਸਕੋਰ ਨੂੰ 197 ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਾ ਕੇ ਟੀਮ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਹਤ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਸਨਰਾਈਜ਼ਰਸ ਹੈਦਰਾਬਾਦ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਸੈਂਕੜਾ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੋਹਲੀ ਨੇ ਇੱਥੇ ਵੀ ਸੈਂਕੜਾ ਜੜਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਅਜੇਤੂ 101 ਦੌੜਾਂ ਬਣਾਈਆਂ। 61 ਗੇਂਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਪਾਰੀ ‘ਚ ਉਸ ਨੇ 1 ਛੱਕਾ ਅਤੇ 13 ਚੌਕੇ ਲਗਾਏ।
ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸੈਂਕੜਾ ਟੀਮ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿਵਾ ਸਕਿਆ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਬੱਲੇਬਾਜ਼ ਸ਼ੁਭਮਨ ਗਿੱਲ ਦੀ ਪਾਰੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ‘ਤੇ ਪਰਛਾਵਾਂ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਜਰਾਤ ਟਾਈਟਨਜ਼ ਨੇ ਐਤਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਇੰਡੀਅਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਮੀਅਰ ਲੀਗ (ਆਈ.ਪੀ.ਐੱਲ.) ਦੇ ਪਲੇਆਫ ‘ਚ ਰਾਇਲ ਚੈਲੰਜਰਜ਼ ਬੈਂਗਲੁਰੂ (ਆਰਸੀਬੀ) ਨੂੰ 6 ਵਿਕਟਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹਰਾ ਕੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਉਮੀਦਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਫੇਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਆਰਸੀਬੀ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਹਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਮੁੰਬਈ ਇੰਡੀਅਨਜ਼ ਪਲੇਆਫ ਵਿੱਚ ਥਾਂ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਚੌਥੀ ਟੀਮ ਬਣ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਨਰਾਈਜ਼ਰਜ਼ ਹੈਦਰਾਬਾਦ (SRH) ਨੂੰ 8 ਵਿਕਟਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹਰਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ 16 ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਈ ਸੀ। ਆਰਸੀਬੀ ਨੇ 14 ਅੰਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਛੇਵੇਂ ਸਥਾਨ ‘ਤੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਗੁਜਰਾਤ ਟਾਈਟਨਸ ਦਾ ਲੀਗ ਪੜਾਅ ‘ਚ ਸਿਖਰ ‘ਤੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਤੈਅ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸਨੇ 20 ਅੰਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਲੀਗ ਪੜਾਅ ਦੀ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਹ ਮੰਗਲਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਕੁਆਲੀਫਾਇਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੇਨਈ ਸੁਪਰ ਕਿੰਗਜ਼ ਨਾਲ ਭਿੜੇਗੀ, ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਮੁੰਬਈ ਇੰਡੀਅਨਜ਼ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਐਲੀਮੀਨੇਟਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਖਨਊ ਸੁਪਰਜਾਇੰਟਸ ਨਾਲ ਭਿੜੇਗੀ।
ਇਸ ਮੈਚ ‘ਚ ਗਿੱਲ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਫਾਰਮ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ 52 ਗੇਂਦਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਅਜੇਤੂ 104 ਦੌੜਾਂ ਬਣਾਈਆਂ, ਜਿਸ ‘ਚ ਪੰਜ ਚੌਕੇ ਅਤੇ 8 ਛੱਕੇ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਸਨ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਵਿਜੇ ਸ਼ੰਕਰ (35 ਗੇਂਦਾਂ ‘ਤੇ 53 ਦੌੜਾਂ, ਸੱਤ ਚੌਕੇ, ਦੋ ਛੱਕੇ) ਨਾਲ ਦੂਜੀ ਵਿਕਟ ਲਈ 123 ਦੌੜਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਝੇਦਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਜਰਾਤ ਨੇ 19.1 ਓਵਰਾਂ ‘ਚ ਚਾਰ ਵਿਕਟਾਂ ‘ਤੇ 198 ਦੌੜਾਂ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਜਿੱਤ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤੀ।
