ਸੂਰਿਆਕੁਮਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਚ ਰਾਹੁਲ ਦ੍ਰਾਵਿੜ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਬੀ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ.ਆਈ. ਟੀ.ਵੀ. ਸੂਰਿਆਕੁਮਾਰ ਦੀ ਬੱਲੇਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦ੍ਰਾਵਿੜ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਕਟ ਖੇਡੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਉਲਟ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਕਪਤਾਨ ਵੀ ਉਸੇ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਵੱਲ ਇਸ਼ਾਰਾ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਦ੍ਰਾਵਿੜ ਨੇ ਫਿਰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਕਿ ਕੀ ਉਹ ਇਕ ਜਾਂ ਦੋ ਪਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਣ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵਧੀਆ ਹੈ।
ਸੂਰਿਆਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ”ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਕਿਸੇ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਣਨਾ ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਵੀ ਬੱਲੇਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਕਰਨ ਗਿਆ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਔਖੀਆਂ ਸਥਿਤੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੱਲੇਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਮਜ਼ਾ ਲਿਆ। ਮੈਂ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੋ ਵੀ ਕੀਤਾ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਖੇਡ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਲਿਆ। ਮੈਂ ਫਿਰ ਉਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਸੂਰਿਆਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਹਾਲ ਹੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਫਲਤਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਹਰਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਦ੍ਰਾਵਿੜ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਦ੍ਰਾਵਿੜ ਟੀਮ ਦੇ ਇੰਚਾਰਜ ਸਨ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਬੱਲੇਬਾਜ਼ ਭਾਰਤ ਏ ਪੱਧਰ ‘ਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਪੱਕੀ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ”ਮੇਰੇ ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ ਦੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਕਟ ਸਫਰ ‘ਚ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਕ੍ਰਿਕਟ ਖੇਡਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਦਦ ਕੀਤੀ। ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਇੱਕ ਇੰਜੀਨੀਅਰ ਹਨ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਥੋੜਾ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਹੋਣਾ ਪਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੰਗਿਆੜੀ ਦੇਖ ਸਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਕਰ ਸਕੇ।”
