ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਵਟਸਐਪ ਨੂੰ ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ ‘ਚ 844 ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤਾਂ ਮਿਲੀਆਂ, ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਨੇ 123 ਖਾਤਿਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵੀ ਮਾਰਚ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਰੀਬ 597 ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤਾਂ ਮਿਲੀਆਂ ਸਨ, ਜਿਸ ਤਹਿਤ 74 ਖਾਤਿਆਂ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਸਖਤ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ 18 ਲੱਖ ਖਾਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੈਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਨੇ 16.6 ਲੱਖ ਖਾਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੈਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

ਵਟਸਐਪ ਦੇ ਬੁਲਾਰੇ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਹਾ, ‘ਇਸ ਉਪਭੋਗਤਾ-ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਪਭੋਗਤਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਟਸਐਪ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਕਾਰਵਾਈਆਂ ਦੇ ਵੇਰਵੇ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਵਟਸਐਪ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਰੋਕਥਾਮ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਕਾਰਵਾਈਆਂ ਦੇ ਵੇਰਵੇ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ।’ ਤਾਜ਼ਾ ਮਾਸਿਕ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਵਟਸਐਪ ਨੇ 1.6 ਮਿਲੀਅਨ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਪਾਬੰਦੀ ਲਗਾਈ ਹੈ। (1,666,000) ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੇ ਖਾਤੇ।
ਵਟਸਐਪ ਨੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਇਹ ਕਦਮ?
ਵਟਸਐਪ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਡੇਟਾ 1 ਤੋਂ 30 ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ WhatsApp ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪਾਬੰਦੀਸ਼ੁਦਾ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਖਾਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਉਜਾਗਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਦੇ ਦੁਰਵਿਵਹਾਰ ਖੋਜ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਖੋਜੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਵਟਸਐਪ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਐਪ ਦੇ ‘ਰਿਪੋਰਟ’ ਫੀਚਰ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਪਭੋਗਤਾਵਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਨਕਾਰਾਤਮਕ ਫੀਡਬੈਕ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਕੰਪਨੀ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਕਦਮ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਪਭੋਗਤਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਦੇ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਲੰਘਣਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਪਾਏ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਆਈਟੀ ਨਿਯਮ 2021 ਦੇ ਤਹਿਤ, 5 ਮਿਲੀਅਨ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਉਪਭੋਗਤਾਵਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਡਿਜੀਟਲ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਪਲੇਟਫਾਰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਹੀਨਾਵਾਰ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਰਿਪੋਰਟਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਤ ਕਰਨੀਆਂ ਪੈਣਗੀਆਂ।
