ਵਟਸਐਪ ਨੇ ਸ਼ੁੱਕਰਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਹਾਈ ਕੋਰਟ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਸਨੇ ਡਾਟਾ ਪ੍ਰੋਟੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਬਿੱਲ ਦੇ ਲਾਗੂ ਹੋਣ ਤੱਕ “ਆਪਣੀ ਗੁਪਤ ਨੀਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਸਥਾਈ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਰੋਕ ਲਗਾਉਣ” ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਵਟਸਐਪ ਲਈ ਪੇਸ਼ ਹੋਏ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਵਕੀਲ ਹਰੀਸ਼ ਸਾਲਵੇ ਨੇ ਦਲੀਲ ਦਿੱਤੀ, “ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਨੀਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਡਾਟਾ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਬਿੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਗੂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ।”
ਉਹ ਅੱਗੇ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, “ਇਹ ਖੁੱਲਾ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਬਿੱਲ ਕਦੋਂ ਆਵੇਗਾ… ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਕੁਝ ਸਮੇਂ ਲਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ। ਦੱਸ ਦੇਈਏ ਕਿ ਬਿਲ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਵੱਖਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਹੋਣਗੇ. ”
ਬਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਬੈਂਚ ਦੀ ਇਕ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਨੇ ਸਾਲਵੇ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਇਲੈਕਟ੍ਰਾਨਿਕਸ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਚਨਾ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ (MEITY) ਨੇ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਮੈਸੇਜਿੰਗ ਪਲੇਟਫਾਰਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਈਟੀ (ਤਰਕਸ਼ੀਲ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਅਭਿਆਸਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਵੇਦਨਸ਼ੀਲ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਡੇਟਾ ਜਾਂ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ) ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਤਹਿਤ ਆਪਣੀ ਗੁਪਤ ਨੀਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਦਲਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ। 2011.
ਵਟਸਐਪ ਨੇ ਗੋਪਨੀਯਤਾ ਨੀਤੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਕੀਤਾ
ਕੇਂਦਰ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਸਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੁੱਦੇ ‘ਤੇ ਫੇਸਬੁੱਕ ਦੇ ਸੀਈਓ ਮਾਰਕ ਜ਼ੁਕਰਬਰਗ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਤਰ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਜਵਾਬ ਉਡੀਕਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਨੀਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਗੂ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਇਮ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ।
ਵਟਸਐਪ ਨੇ ਵਿਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਆਈਟੀ ਕਾਨੂੰਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਨੀਤੀ 15 ਮਈ ਤੋਂ ਲਾਗੂ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਅਕਾਉਂਟਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਬਲਾਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੇਗੀ।
ਜਦੋਂ ਮੁੱਡਲੇ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਇਕ ਸਿੰਗਲ ਬੈਂਚ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਸੂਚੀਬੱਧ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ, ਕੇਂਦਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਵਟਸਐਪ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਵੀਂ ਗੋਪਨੀਯਤਾ ਨੀਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਗੂ ਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਉਪਭੋਗਤਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯੂਰਪੀਅਨ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਖਰੇ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਲਈ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਮੁੱਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ। .
