Ottawa- ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ‘ਚ ਚੀਨ ‘ਚ ਬਣੀਆਂ ਇਲੈਕਟ੍ਰਿਕ ਗੱਡੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਆਮਦ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਗਲੋਬਲ ਅਫੇਅਰਜ਼ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੇ ਅੰਕੜਿਆਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਮਈ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ 2,910 ਚੀਨੀ-ਨਿਰਮਿਤ ਇਲੈਕਟ੍ਰਿਕ ਯਾਤਰੀ ਵਾਹਨ ਦੇਸ਼ ‘ਚ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਵਾਹਨ ਵੀ ਰਸਤੇ ‘ਚ ਹਨ।
ਇਹ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਮਹੀਨਾ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਮਾਰਕ ਕਾਰਨੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜਨਵਰੀ ‘ਚ ਚੀਨ ਦੌਰੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਟੈਰਿਫ਼-ਕੋਟਾ ਸਮਝੌਤੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਚੀਨ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ‘ਚ ਇਲੈਕਟ੍ਰਿਕ ਵਾਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਮਦ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਬਰਾਂਡ ਜਾਂ ਮਾਡਲ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਮਾਰਕ ਕਾਰਨੀ ਨੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਹਫ਼ਤੇ ਨਿਊਯਾਰਕ ਦੇ ਇਕ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਸਮਾਗਮ ‘ਚ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾਤਰ ਵਾਹਨ ਸੰਭਵ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਚੀਨ ‘ਚ ਬਣੀਆਂ ਟੇਸਲਾ (Tesla) ਗੱਡੀਆਂ ਹੋਣਗੀਆਂ।
ਓਟਾਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਬੀਜਿੰਗ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਹੋਏ ਸਮਝੌਤੇ ਤਹਿਤ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਨੇ ਚੀਨੀ ਇਲੈਕਟ੍ਰਿਕ ਵਾਹਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਟੈਰਿਫ਼-ਕੋਟਾ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਲਾਗੂ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਬਦਲੇ ਚੀਨ ਨੇ ਕੈਨੇਡੀਅਨ ਕੈਨੋਲਾ ਉੱਤੇ ਲਗਾਈਆਂ ਕੁਝ ਡਿਊਟੀਆਂ ਹਟਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਸਹਿਮਤੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਨੇ ਸਾਲ 2024 ‘ਚ ਚੀਨੀ ਇਲੈਕਟ੍ਰਿਕ ਵਾਹਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ 100 ਫ਼ੀਸਦੀ ਟੈਰਿਫ਼ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਸੀ। ਹੁਣ ਨਵੇਂ ਸਮਝੌਤੇ ਤਹਿਤ ਹਰ ਸਾਲ 49,000 ਤੱਕ ਚੀਨੀ EVs ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ 6.1 ਫ਼ੀਸਦੀ ਟੈਰਿਫ਼ ਨਾਲ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ‘ਚ ਦਾਖ਼ਲ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਇਸਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਛੇ ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਲਈ 24,500 ਵਾਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਉੱਚਤਮ ਸੀਮਾ ਵੀ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਇਲੈਕਟ੍ਰਿਕ ਮੋਬਿਲਿਟੀ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੀਈਓ ਡੈਨਿਯਲ ਬ੍ਰੇਟਨ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸੰਘੀ EV ਰਿਬੇਟਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਾਪਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਈਰਾਨ ਯੁੱਧ ਕਾਰਨ ਵਧੀਆਂ ਪੈਟਰੋਲ ਕੀਮਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਦੇਨਜ਼ਰ ਹੋਰ ਕੈਨੇਡੀਅਨ ਡਰਾਈਵਰ ਇਲੈਕਟ੍ਰਿਕ ਵਾਹਨਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਰੁਝਾਨ ਦਿਖਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਵਧਦੀ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਫਾਇਦਾ ਖਪਤਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਚੀਨੀ EVs ਦੀ ਆਮਦ ਨਾਲ ਵਾਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੀਮਤਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਦਬਾਅ ਪਵੇਗਾ। ਬ੍ਰੇਟਨ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਕੁਝ ਮਾਡਲਾਂ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ Chevy Bolt, ਦੀਆਂ ਕੀਮਤਾਂ ‘ਚ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਕਮੀ ਦੇਖੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
