VANCOUVER: ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦੋ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਡਿਪੋਰਟ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਰੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਤੀਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ ਵਿਚ ਲਏ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਘਟਨਾ ਦਰਮਿਆਨ ਦਰਜਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਡਿਪੋਰਟੇਸ਼ਨ ਤੋਂ ਰਾਹਤ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। 20 ਜੂਨ 2025 ਤੋਂ 19 ਜੂਨ 2026 ਦਰਮਿਆਨ ਅਸਾਇਲਮ ਕਲੇਮ ਰੱਦ ਹੋਣ, ਪ੍ਰੀ ਰਿਮੂਵਲ ਰਿਸਕ ਅਸੈਸਮੈਂਟ ਐਪਲੀਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਨਾਂਹ ਪੱਖੀ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਆਉਣ ਜਾਂ ਫ਼ੈਡਰਲ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅਪੀਲ ਰੱਦ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਸੂਰਤ ਵਿਚ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਜਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ ਪਰ ਇਹ ਮੌਕਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਕ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਮੁਲਕ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਸੀਮਤ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਮਾਂਟਰੀਅਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਦਰਦਨਾਕ ਗੋਲੀਬਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਘਟਨਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ, ਇੱਕ ਆਮ ਨਾਗਰਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਹਥਿਆਰਬੰਦ ਹਮਲਾਵਰ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਪੁਲਿਸ ਮੁਖੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਇਕੱਲੇ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਵਾਰਦਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਜਾਮ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਣਪਛਾਤੇ ਸ਼ੱਕੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਕੇ ‘ਤੇ ਹੀ ਢੇਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਹਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਹੋਰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਮੁਲਾਜ਼ਮ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮੀ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸਦੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਸਥਿਰ ਦੱਸੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਘਟਨਾ ਮਾਂਟਰੀਅਲ ਦੇ ਸੰਘਣੀ ਆਬਾਦੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਇਲਾਕੇ ‘ਕੋਟ-ਡੇ-ਨੇਜ’ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਪਰੀ। ਚਸ਼ਮਦੀਦਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਖਿੜਕੀ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬੰਦੂਕ ਦੇਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਗੋਲੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੂਚਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
