ਡੈਸਕ- ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਕ੍ਰਿਕਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੀਸੀਸੀਆਈ ਯਾਨੀ ਭਾਰਤ ਦਾ ਦਬਦਬਾ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਸਾਫ਼ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੁਣ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਵਾਧਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਇਕ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਕਟ ਕੌਂਸਲ ਦਾ ਨਵਾਂ ਬੌਸ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਕਈ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਿਆਸਅਰਾਈਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਆਖਰਕਾਰ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਤ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ – ਜੈ ਸ਼ਾਹ ICC ਦੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਬੌਸ ਹੋਣਗੇ।
ਬੀਸੀਸੀਆਈ ਦੇ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਜੈ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਈਸੀਸੀ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਦੇ ਅਹੁਦੇ ਲਈ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਚੁਣ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਇਸ ਅਹੁਦੇ ‘ਤੇ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਗ੍ਰੇਗ ਬਾਰਕਲੇ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਲੈਣਗੇ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਜਕਾਲ ਨਵੰਬਰ ‘ਚ ਖਤਮ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਮਹਿਜ਼ 35 ਸਾਲ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਹ ICC ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਘੱਟ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਹੋਣਗੇ।
ਪਿਛਲੇ 5 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ BCCI ਦੇ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਜੈ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਕ੍ਰਿਕਟ ‘ਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਖਾਸ ਪਛਾਣ ਬਣਾਈ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾਤਰ ਕ੍ਰਿਕਟ ਬੋਰਡਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਚੰਗੇ ਸਬੰਧ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਜੈ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਅਹੁਦੇ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਚੁਣੌਤੀ ਪੇਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਕੁਝ ਦਿਨ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਆਈਸੀਸੀ ਨੇ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਦੋ ਵਾਰ ਇਹ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਰਹੇ ਗ੍ਰੇਗ ਬਾਰਕਲੇ ਦੇ ਅਸਤੀਫੇ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਆਈਸੀਸੀ ਦੇ ਸੰਵਿਧਾਨ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ 3 ਵਾਰ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਬਣਨ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਵਧਾਨ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਨਿਊਜ਼ੀਲੈਂਡ ਦੇ ਬਾਰਕਲੇ ਨੇ ਤੀਜੇ ਕਾਰਜਕਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਜੈ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਅਹੁਦੇ ‘ਤੇ ਆਉਣ ਦੀ ਚਰਚਾ ਤੇਜ਼ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਆਈਸੀਸੀ ਨੇ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਦੇ ਅਹੁਦੇ ਲਈ ਨਾਮਜ਼ਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਆਖਰੀ ਮਿਤੀ 27 ਅਗਸਤ ਤੈਅ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ। ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਜੇਕਰ 2 ਜਾਂ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਚੋਣ ਹੋਣੀ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਈ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ. ਦਾ 16 ਮੈਂਬਰੀ ਬੋਰਡ ਵੋਟਿੰਗ ਕਰੇਗਾ, ਪਰ ਜੇ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰ ਬਣਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਦਾਅਵੇਦਾਰ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੋਰਡ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ 14-15 ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਸੀ। ਅਜਿਹੇ ‘ਚ 27 ਅਗਸਤ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮਜ਼ਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਤੈਅ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਜੈ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਬਣਨਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ICC ਨੇ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ 1 ਦਸੰਬਰ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਕਾਰਜਕਾਲ ਸੰਭਾਲਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਅਗਲੇ 6 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
