ਤਤਕਾਲੀ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਕ ਅਮਰਨਾਥ ਨੇ ਸਲੀਮ ਖਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਆਹ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੰਬਈ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ 400 ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਮਹੀਨਾਵਾਰ ਤਨਖਾਹ ‘ਤੇ ਅਦਾਕਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਸਲੀਮ ਖਾਨ ਨੇ ਬਤੌਰ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਕ ਲਗਭਗ 14 ਫਿਲਮਾਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੀਸਰੀ ਮੰਜ਼ਿਲ, ਦੀਵਾਨਾ, ਵਫਾਦਾਰ, ਸਰਹਾਦੀ ਲੁਟੇਰਾ ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਫਿਲਮਾਂ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ।ਸਲੀਮ ਨੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਫਿਲਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਛੋਟੀਆਂ-ਛੋਟੀਆਂ ਭੂਮਿਕਾਵਾਂ ਨਿਭਾਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇਹੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਬਤੌਰ ਅਦਾਕਾਰ ਉਹ ਦਰਸ਼ਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਿੱਚ ਸਕਿਆ।

ਫਿਲਮ ‘ਸਰਹਦੀ ਲੁਟੇਰਾ’ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੂਟਿੰਗ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸਲੀਮ ਦੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਬਦਲ ਗਈ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸਲੀਮ ਖਾਨ ਦੀ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ‘ਕਲੈਪ ਬੁਆਏ’ ਜਾਵੇਦ ਅਖਤਰ ਨਾਲ ਇਸੇ ਫਿਲਮ ‘ਚ ਹੋਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਥੋਂ ਹੀ ਸਲੀਮ-ਜਾਵੇਦ ਦੀ ਜੋੜੀ ਬਣੀ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸੁਪਰਸਟਾਰ ਰਾਜੇਸ਼ ਖੰਨਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਫਿਲਮ ‘ਹਾਥੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਥੀ’ ‘ਚ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਸੁਪਰਹਿੱਟ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਸਲੀਮ-ਜਾਵੇਦ ਦੀ ਜੋੜੀ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਸੁਪਰ ਡੁਪਰ ਹਿੱਟ ਫਿਲਮਾਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਲਗਭਗ 25 ਫਿਲਮਾਂ ਲਿਖਣ ਲਈ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ। ਸਲੀਮ ਖਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਵੇਦ ਅਖਤਰ ਦੀ ਜੋੜੀ 70 ਅਤੇ 80 ਦੇ ਦਹਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਤਨਖਾਹ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਲੇਖਕ ਜੋੜੀ ਸੀ।
ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਕੁੜੀ ਸੁਸ਼ੀਲਾ ਚਰਕ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ
ਸਲੀਮ ਖਾਨ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਇੰਦੌਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ, ਲਗਭਗ 150 ਸਾਲ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੁਰਖੇ ਅਫਗਾਨਿਸਤਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਆ ਕੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਸ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਸਲੀਮ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਨ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਮਾਹੌਲ ਸੀ। ਘਰ ਦਾ ਹਰ ਜੀਅ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਧੀਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਸਲੀਮ ਖਾਨ ਦੇ ਮਾਤਾ-ਪਿਤਾ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਛੋਟਾ ਸੀ, ਜਦੋਂ ਸਲੀਮ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਹੀਰੋ ਬਣਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੋਚਿਆ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਮੁੰਬਈ ਆ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਥੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਸੁਸ਼ੀਲਾ ਚਰਕ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਈ ਅਤੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰਵਾ ਲਿਆ।
ਹੈਲਨ ਨਾਲ ਦੂਜਾ ਵਿਆਹ
ਸਲੀਮ ਅਤੇ ਖਾਨ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ‘ਚ ਹੈਲਨ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਣ ‘ਤੇ ਤੂਫਾਨ ਆ ਗਿਆ। ਸਲੀਮ ਹੈਲਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਸੰਦ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਸਲੀਮ ਖਾਨ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਇੱਕ ਇੰਟਰਵਿਊ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ, “ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਤਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਕਦੋਂ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਪਰ ਲੰਬੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਮ ਦੇਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੋਚਿਆ।” ਅੱਜ ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਸਲਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਹੈਲਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਸਲਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਵਿਆਹ ਦਾ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਹੌਲੀ-ਹੌਲੀ ਸਲਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਹੈਲਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਚੰਗਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਪਣਾ ਲਿਆ।
