Punjabi news, reported from British Columbia.

TV Punjab has published Punjabi news since 2013. It is owned and operated by Ubiq Broadcasting Corp. from its newsroom in Surrey, British Columbia. We cover the Lower Mainland and the Fraser Valley first, then Canada, India and the wider diaspora.

What we publish

  • Civic & Community: original reporting by our B.C. journalists on city councils, elections, public safety and community life, including interviews conducted in our Surrey studio.
  • Daily news bulletin: a written summary of the day’s news from Canada, India and the world, published every day with sources credited.
  • Live TV and news shows: our broadcasts, free to watch with no sign-in.

The newsroom

Our journalists are named on everything they write, and each has an archive page listing their work.

Independence

Our journalists are employed at arm’s length from any interest they cover. Editorial decisions are made in the newsroom alone. No owner, advertiser, sponsor or carriage partner sees a story before publication or decides what we cover. Sponsored material is labelled and is never written by our reporters.

How we report

  • A contested factual claim needs two independent sources, or a document we have seen ourselves.
  • Material from other outlets is credited to them; our bylines appear only on our own reporting.
  • Errors are corrected at the same prominence as the original story and logged on our corrections page.

Read our full editorial standards.

Funding

TV Punjab is funded by advertising and by readers who choose to subscribe. We decline advertising that conflicts with our editorial standards, including political, misleading and unverified claims, even when that costs us revenue. Nothing we publish is behind a paywall: a subscription is support, not access.

Ownership

TV Punjab is owned and operated by Ubiq Broadcasting Corp., a Canadian corporation with its newsroom in Surrey, British Columbia. It is not owned or controlled, in whole or in part, by any government, political party, candidate or foreign entity.
